University College, Durham University
Durham University's University College, often referred to as 'Castle', is the oldest of Durham's colleges, having been founded in 1832 (although it was not until 1837 that the college moved into the Castle). University College is unique in that around 140 - 150 students a year of the 750 or so who are members are accomodated within the castle, the only UNESCO World Heritage Site inhabited by students. A bailey college, University College is near Hatfield, St Chad's and St John's.
University College's bar, affectionately known as 'The Undie' or 'The Undercroft', is housed (surprisingly) in the undercroft of the castle.
