Durham University Colleges
There are 17 colleges of Durham University in total, in the centre of Durham, home of the historic Durham Cathedral, Stockton-on-Tees and Ushaw Moor.
Bailey Colleges
The bailey colleges of the University of Durham are situated on Durham's bailey - the area surrounding the castle (in which University College is situated), and are traditionally more difficult to be accepted in to than the hill colleges (especially University College and Hatfield, crest pictured). A friendly rivalry exists between each college, as well as between the rather aloof College of St Hild & St Bede and the hill and bailey colleges.
Hill Colleges
The hill colleges (of which one, Grey College, is pictured) are popular with students studying science(s) at the university, with their close promiximity to the 'science site' on which most, if not all, lectures for science degrees are held.

Other Colleges
Ushaw College is situated 4 miles from Durham, on Ushaw Moor, and the College of St Hild & St Bede is technically neither a hill or bailey college despite being on the Durham city campus of the university.
Queen's Campus Colleges, Stockton
The Queen's Campus of the University of Durham was established in the 1990s, and is situated 20 miles outside Durham in Stockton-upon-Tees. The Queen's Campus only has 2 colleges, John Snow College and Stephenson College.
