Durham University Lecturer Stereotypes | durhamStudent™
Assuming you've attended lectures recently (and have been awake during lectures), you may have noticed that a few university lecturer stereotypes can be applied to most of the lecturers you have. From the eccentric to the introvert, durhamStudent has catalogued them all!
Try Hard Lecturer
The try hard lecturer try a little too hard to be 'cool' to their students, making topic-related jokes during lectures and swearing for the sake of swearing.
Extrovert/Bow Tie Wearing Lecturer
The bow tie wearing lecturer is the typical eccentric academic. The bow tie is usually accompanied by longish, unkempt hair and an inane grin.
Introvert Lecturer
Whilst mostly found lecturing in science-based subjects, the introvert lecturer (sometimes also a researcher-lecturer) hates lecturing (well, when there are students in the theatre)
Researcher-Lecturer
The researcher-lecturer (occasionally seen wearing a bow tie) loves nothing more than to talk about his/her research, no matter if it's at the expense of the actual topic of the lecturer. Some researcher-lecturers hate to be torn away from their research - easily spotted by frequent looks at their watch and frequent setting of 'group discussions' during the lecture, enabling the lecturer to get back to their research on their laptop. And who says it's just students who aren't too keen on lectures?!

Hahaha! The introvert and researcher lecturers are very very true, and very common place! Nice one.

All my lecturers this year are new, and despite only having a few lectures so far, I can relate to most of those. Not seen one with a bow tie yet tho!!
