Durham University’s Grey College is a hill college of some 980 members. Established in 1959, Grey was initially a male-only college, but began admitting female students in 1984, and has a strong reputation for excellence in sport, especially rubgy. Located near Collingwood College, Grey and Collingwood maintain an atmosphere of friendly rivalry.
Grey College was named after Earl Grey, the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom when Durham University was founded in 1832.
