Trevelyan College is a hill college of the University of Durham, and was founded in 1966 as an exclusively female college, becoming a ‘uni-sex’ college in 1992. It currently has around 600 students as members, with room for 320 or so to live-in.
The hexagonal design of the college building is supposed to replicate Durham Castle. Situated near Van Mildert, St Mary’s and Collingwood College.
The motto of Trevelyan College is vera fictis libentius – ‘truth more readily than falsehood’.
